How to Make Money on the Internet

Since the advent of the Internet, making money has no longer been concentrated or focused on the usual 8-5 or 9-6 jobs. The Internet allows anyone, both young and old to make money, anywhere they are and anytime they want with only two basic requirements – the computer and the Internet.
However, if you are really serious on making the Internet your cash machine, you need to have an Internet marketing plan and of course your tool to start everything – your website. Now, after you have created your website, that’s when you start ways on how to make money.
Try to make each visitor count:
One way of making money on the Internet using your website is to try and get some benefits from each and every visitor that comes to your website.
For every website, conversion rate is much below the number of visitors it gets. Conversion rate is the rate of the people who are becoming your customers out of the total visitors to your website. Normally, if you have a conversion rate of 2%, this is very good. But this would mean that, the other 98% of the visitors are going away. You as the website owner are not able to benefit from them.
And most of these people are never likely to come back to you again. So if you can somehow get their email address, then you can contact them in the future to maintain contact. This way, these people will also remember you and many of them will actually come back to visit your website again.
This will offer you another opportunity to do business with them. So never let anyone go out of your website unless you have something in return.
But how can you get their email address?
The best way is to give something in return for the information that they will provide you. You can give a freebie like an ebook that is likely to interest the visitor. In exchange you ask for the email address. And if you are offering an ebook as a product, then you can something like the first 3 chapters free. These measures are likely to raise the interest and you will stand a better chance of getting what you seek thus enhancing your ROI.
PPC campaigns:
PPC campaigns are a good way to increase your Internet income. The most popular PPC model is the Google Adwords campaign. Whereas regular search engine optimization takes a lot of time to yield results, if you do indeed achieve the ranks that you seek, in PPC you start getting instant results.
You just have to set up the account, select the keywords and your advertisements start appearing almost instantly. And no sooner does your advertisement appear, you start getting clicks from them. But the best part is, you actually pay Google, ‘per click’. This means that you are not paying just for the appearance of these advertisements. You do not have to pay unless someone actually clicks on it. And when there is a click, while it means that you have an expense, it also means that you are getting a hot lead that you can convert with some effort.
Plus, in such a campaign, you can set your ‘daily budget’, wherein you are indicating how much you are interested in spending from the promotion. Thus, your budget is also within control. If you do some monitoring and tweaking, you will find that your income will increase over time.
Affiliate programs:
Starting an affiliate program is another great way to increase your Internet revenues. Most small business owners cannot afford the cost of hiring marketing professionals to promote their business and its products or services. So what do they do? The answer lies in affiliate marketing.
In an affiliate program, others will actually promote your business or whatever you are offering in exchange of their affiliate commission. They will put advertisements with links to your website in their own web space. Some affiliates may even create an entire website that is dedicated to promote you. And in time you will see an increase in web traffic to your domain from all these affiliate websites.
You can decide to pay these affiliates either for the traffic that they are providing you or a percentage of the sales that came from their efforts. Here also, like a PPC campaign, you have no expenses unless you gain something in return. That is, you only pay the affiliate when there is actually a visitor to your domain or a sale from it. It means, you earn – the affiliate also gets the commission. You do not earn – the affiliate gets nothing.
Search engine optimization:
If you are interested in Internet marketing and wish to improve your Internet income, then you need to do at least some level of optimization, to ensure that your website ranks as high as possible in the search engine results. Though it takes some time to give results, but when you do indeed get a top 10 ranking in a popular place like Google with a popular keyword, you will see a huge improvement in Internet traffic. And when this traffic comes in, this happens at no additional cost to you. So in the long term, search engine optimization gives good ROI, as it may turn out to be more cost effective.
Articles:
Another great way to make money on the Internet is through articles. Just create a few articles on a related topic and post them on other websites or article directories. There are several websites that invite free submissions. But remember to put your name and a link to your website at the bottom of these articles. If they are well written, you will see good readership and even a high click through to your domain. This exercise will not cost you any money, only some time investment on your part.
